A domain registered with phas is set up with a managed DNS zone and pointed at it automatically. You can switch to another DNS provider at any time and switch back just as easily.
Using your own DNS provider
- Set the zone up at the other provider first, so it is answering before the switch.
- Open the domain under Domains and edit the Nameservers card.
- Enter the provider's nameservers and save. The change goes to the registry immediately and takes effect as caches expire, usually within an hour.
The phas zone stays in your account under DNS, marked inactive, so nothing is lost.
Coming back to phas DNS
Click Use phas DNS on the domain's page. The zone is reactivated with its records intact and the registry is pointed back at it.
Why stay on phas DNS
Email forwarding, redirects, the parked page, the security and performance switches and one-click SSL settings all live on the zone page, and they only work while the domain uses phas DNS. See The DNS zone page.
