A domain registered with phas is connected to your plan automatically. A domain registered somewhere else needs one of the two setups below. Both start the same way: open the plan under Hosting and add the domain in the Domains card.
Option 1: move the domain's DNS to phas (recommended)
phas DNS is free, and it is what makes email forwarding, redirects, the security switches and one-click SSL settings available for the domain.
- In the plan's Domains card, click Use phas DNS next to the domain. A DNS zone is created with the records the site needs already in place.
- Open the zone under DNS. The card at the top, One step left: switch your nameservers, lists two nameservers.
- At your registrar, replace the domain's nameservers with those two.
The zone page changes from "setting up" to active once the registry has picked up the change. That usually takes under an hour, and can take up to a day or two for some registries.
Option 2: keep your current DNS provider
Stay where you are and add records there instead. The plan's DNS records
card shows exactly what to create, normally an A record for the domain and
one for www, pointing at the plan's server address.
Once the records resolve, the site is reachable and an SSL certificate is issued automatically.
Checking it worked
Visit the domain in a browser. If you see your site over https://, you are
done. If you see the previous host's site, the old records are still cached,
so give it an hour and try again. If it never changes, check the records you
added for a typo and that no older records are competing with them.
