Three add-ons can be switched on for a hosting plan:

Each attaches to one plan. Two plans that both need backups need the add-on on each.
Switching one on
Open the plan under Hosting and use the add-on's switch. The add-on is added to the plan's subscription and the first charge is prorated for the rest of the current period. From the next period it bills with the plan on the same date, in the same invoice.
Add-ons can also be chosen at checkout when buying a plan.
Switching one off
Turn the switch off on the same page. The add-on keeps working until the end of the current billing period, because you have paid for it, and is then removed. Until that date the switch shows Resume, which cancels the removal with nothing to pay.
What removal means for each add-on:
- Managed Backups stops taking scheduled backups. Copies already taken stay until they reach the end of their retention, and existing copies can be handed to you on request. See How Managed Backups work.
- Monitoring stops checking. The history stays, so switching it on again picks up where it left off.
- Transactional Email stops sending for the plan's domains and the credentials stop working. Anything still using them will fail to send, so update your site first.
