Free site migration

What we need from you, how the preview works, and what happens to email during the move.

Migration is free with any new plan, and a person does it. We copy the site to a staging address, you check it, and only then do we point the domain at phas. Visitors never land on an empty server.

What we need from you

Open a ticket under Support and include access to the current host: a cPanel login, SFTP details, or a full backup file. Tickets are private, and only our engineers read them. If you do not have a plan yet, say which one you want in the same ticket and we set it up first.

How it runs

  1. Copy. We move files, databases and the site's configuration to your new plan and put it on a staging address.
  2. Preview. You browse the staging copy. Anything wrong gets fixed there before the cut-over. Take as long as you need.
  3. Cut-over. Once you approve, we change the DNS so the domain points at phas. If the domain's DNS moves to phas as part of this, we set the zone up before the switch so nothing pauses.

Email during the move

Mailboxes stay with whoever provides them today. We re-point the MX records carefully so mail keeps flowing through the cut-over. If your old host was also your mailbox provider, tell us in the ticket: we help you onto a provider from Email and Apps, or set up free forwarding if an address is all you need.

How long it takes

We confirm timing in the ticket before starting. A single site is usually quick. A large store or a site with a lot of moving parts is scheduled with you, normally for a quiet evening, so the cut-over happens when traffic is low.
